The Department of Landscape, Water and Infrastructure, Institute of Mountain Risk Engineering is
currently seeking a
Postgraduate or Postdoctoral Research Associate
project employment
(Reference code 21)
Extent of employment: 30 hours per week
Duration of employment: 1st of April 2025, limited to 31st of March 2028Al ocation in compliance with the Col ective Agreement for University Staff to job group:
B1 or B1 lit. b
Gross monthly salary: (depending on previous eligible experience) at least: without doctorate B1
(30 h/week) € 2.786,10, with doctorate B1 lit. b (30 h/week) € 3.699,70 (payable 14 times per year)
Responsibilities

• Implementation of constitutive flow resistance relations specific for debris-flows
• Developing specific debris-flow modules (options of input hydrograph and erosion)
• Processing and analyzing monitoring data to constrain input parameters
• Close interaction with collaboration partners of the project
• Support of project management
• Writing scientific publications

Required skil s and qualifications

• Diploma degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Informatics, Earth Sciences or other

equivalent university degree

• Language skills: English
• Background in hydraulics
• Programming skills (ideally R and Python)
• Open source development / GIT Project experience
• Ability to work in a team and independently
• Motivation and the enthusiasm for scientific work

Desirable skil s and qualifications

• Doctorate degree / PhD
• Background/interest in geomorphology, gravitational mass flows, earth science
• Good presentation skills, stress resilience, creativity and reliability
