The Department of Ecosystem Management, Climate and Biodiversity, Institute of Forest Ecology is
currently seeking a
Postdoctoral Research Associate
(Reference code 109)
Extent of employment: 40 hours per week
Duration of employment: 1st of July 2025, limited to 30th of June 2031
Workplace: 1190 Vienna, Peter-Jordan-Straße 82
Al ocation in compliance with the Col ective Agreement for University Staff to job group: B1 lit. b
Gross monthly salary: (depending on previous eligible experience) at least: € 4.932,90
(payable 14 times per year)
Responsibilities

• Conduct research on tree reproduction in forests under climate change
• Acquire and supervise third-party funded projects
• Publish in scientific journals, present research in national and international conferences
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses
• Organize and participate in third mission (outreach, science communication) activities
• Participate in university self-governance and institutional development

Required skil s and qualifications

• Doctoral degree/PhD in Biology, Ecology, Forestry or similar field
• Language skills: English
• Experience and proven ability to conduct research in forest ecology, tree reproduction and
• climate change research or adjacent fields
• Publication record in internationally leading journals according to research experience
• Advanced data wrangling and analysis skills for large data sets in R, Python or similar

platform

• International network of research partnerships

Desirable skil s and qualifications

• Didactic training and teaching experience
• Mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students
• Experience in acquiring third-party funding
