Job description

We are seeking a VP of Legal & Business Affairs with a focus on non-scripted television to lead our client’s LBA efforts across the UK factual and factual entertainment television business.This role will oversee all legal and business affairs related to the development, financing and production of non-scripted content.You will work closely with senior management, providing legal guidance and supervising other team members, while taking responsibility for the non-scripted slate independently.Key Responsibilities:

• Lead lawyer for all UK factual and factual entertainment television projects, managing the slate autonomously
• Provide legal and business affairs support to internal teams
• Supervise and oversee other legal team members working on non-scripted projects
• Collaborate with various departments, including Development, Distribution, Talent Management, Publicity, Finance, Corporate, Digital, Marketing, and Production
• Negotiate and draft agreements related to development, financing, and production of factual and factual entertainment content
• Advise on programme compliance, including copyright clearance, privacy, defamation, and OFCOM regulations
• Assist with talent agreements, live tours, and other corporate legal matters when required

About You:

• Significant experience in non-scripted television legal and business affairs
• Expertise in broadcaster terms of trade, production financing, compliance, and intellectual property law
• Strong negotiation skills and attention to detail in drafting legal documents
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal issues to non-lawyers
• Passion for non-scripted television content
