Welcome to our team!Your personal sphere of influence:The Department of Didactics of Chemistry offers a 4 year position for a Prae Doc. The Department of Didactics of Chemistry, run by Univ.-Prof. Elisabeth Hofer, has its focus on the subjects of teaching and learning chemistry in various educational contexts and levels – from first chemistry instruction to chemistry teacher education at the university. Hands-on work with students, context-oriented education related to aspects such as green or sustainable chemistry as well as the inclusive design of learning environments are central points of interest. In our out-of-school lab (WiL2La) students of all types of schools and all grades are invited to work on different topics in an authentic lab setting while being supervised by university chemistry students. The synergy between schools and universities enables the university students to gather practical experience in a safe environment and school students to getinsight into contemporary chemistry-specific topics and methods. As a university assistant you will be part of a diverse and highly motivated team. You have the opportunity to conductinnovative research projects in the field of didactics of chemistry, develop new teaching concepts, guide students in their chemistry didactic education and contribute actively to the ongoing development of modern chemistry education.Your future tasks:You will be actively involved in research, teaching and administration, which means
- You will develop and conduct a research project, preferably on the key issues named above and write a doctoral thesis on it.
- We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
- You will take part in publications, scientific presentations and teacher professional development.
- You hold courses independently to the extent of the provisions of the collective agreement.
- You will take on administrative tasks in research and teaching and relating to events at the institute.
This is part of your personality:
- You have a diploma or masters degree in chemistry education.
- You are familiar with current issues and developments of chemistry education research.
- You have had first experiences with teaching in schools our out-of-school settings.
- You are an enthusiastic, keen and dedicated person who enjoys working independently as well as being a team player.
- Very good knowledge of German and English is essential.
- Ideally you have prior experience with activities in out-of-school labs and with qualitative or quantitative methods in educational research.

- Fair salary: The salary, starting with EUR 3.714,80 (full time) can be increased if you have relevant professional experience.
- Contract duration: 3 years with a preliminary limitation of 1,5 years and will automatically be extended to 3 years unless the employer hands in a non-extension declaration after 12 months. An extension up to a total of 4 years is then possible provided the excellent performance of the candidate
