Expected start: January 2025.Tasks: You will work in the context of the Business Informatics Group (BIG), where you will be expected to contribute significantly to the group’s research program on Model-Driven Engineering (MDE). We regard MDE as a broad discipline within which we identify, and contribute to, more specific application contexts, such as model-driven software engineering, enterprise engineering, business process management, digital-twin engineering, ontology engineering, and knowledge engineering. The research program balances rigor and relevance, in that we take our inspiration from needs in practice, while combining foundational and technological aspects towards well-founded contributions to MDE. The BIG group, and its research program on MDE, are an integral part of a strong international network of MDE related researchers across Europe, Canada, and Australia.More specifically:

• Diving deep into scientific problems and conducting collaborative and independent research
• Independent teaching and supervision of students
• Development of new methods and concepts, and their realization in software and associated evaluation prototypes
• Contributing to interdisciplinary scientific projects and development of new research project proposals
• Authoring international publications in top conferences and journals related to your work
• Taking a leading role in the development prototypes of model-driven engineering tools
• Participating in organizational and administrative tasks of the research unit and faculty

Your profile: You are expected to play a leading role in the further development of the program. As such, you will proactively work towards future (national and international) project proposals, while also aiding in the supervision of PhD students within BIG and its international network. Within TU Wien, you are expected to actively contribute towards lectures on e.g. enterprise and process engineering, information systems engineering, or model-driven engineering in general.You hold a doctorate in computer science, business informatics, or a related discipline, together with relevant experience, and possess a good background pertaining to MDE related technologies in general. You will be able to lead a small team of PhD candidates, student assistants, as well as Bachelor and Master Thesis students.More specifically:

• Completion of an appropriate doctorate and in-depth knowledge of the subject area
• Knowledge of, and experience in, scientific work
• A drive for interdisciplinary research
• A track record of highly visible research and publications in relation to the position
• Experience in teaching and pleasure in working with/supervising students
• Organizational and analytical skills as well as a structured way of working
• Software engineering skills, and the drive to lead an open source project
• Experience in, or knowledge of, relevant technologies and theories; In particular with regards to model-driven engineering, or one of its specializations (e.g. model-driven software engineering, enterprise engineering, business process management, digital-twin engineering, ontology engineering, or knowledge engineering)
• Excellent command of English, both in speaking and writing
• Knowledge of German (level B2) or willingness to learn it in the first year
• Excellent skills in problem-solving, creativity, and innovation
• Good communication skills and team orientation
