Reference no.: 4422The positionWe welcome applications from outstanding candidates who explore Hungarian literary studies in their own context, but also in the European context. In accordance with the curricular requirements, they have a background in philological and cultural studies and reflect on current or historical issues in literary studies. They are able to cover the entire spectrum of Hungarian literary history in their teaching. Their research focus can be on both older and more recent literary history. Ideally, they are experienced in interdisciplinary co-operation and have an interest in the methods and theories of literary research. They are also interested in embedding their research in the field of comparative linguistics and literary studies.The tenure track professorship represents the subject of Hungarian Studies in the field of literary and cultural studies and is therefore an essential part of teacher training for the subject ‘Hungarian’. The tenure track professorship is not only part of the ‘Finno-Ugrian Studies’ department, but also works together with other European literary and cultural studies, i.e. it is integrated into the department of Comparative Literature. Successful candidates will teach in the comparative study programmes and contribute to their further development. They will cooperate with comparative literature research groups and help to develop a focus in the field of ‘world literature’.Your academic profile:

  • Doctoral degree/PhD
  • Two years of international research experience during or after doctoral studies
  • Outstanding research achievements, excellent publication and funding record, international reputation
  • Gender and diversity competence
  • Experience in designing of and participating in research projects, ability to lead research groups and acquire third-party funding
  • Enthusiasm for excellent teaching and supervision at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral level

We expect the successful candidate to acquire, within three years, proficiency in German sufficient for teaching in bachelor’s programmes and for participation in university committees.We offer:
