Offer DescriptionThe professorship forms part of the strategic positioning of the Faculty of Law with the following objectives: innovation, interdisciplinarity, and internationalisation. With this professorship, the Faculty strengthens its competence in the area of legal challenges of digitalisation and thus expects an active contribution to shaping the legal framework of the digital transformation. The professorship will be responsible for Austrian civil law, with particular consideration of its European dimension and its interrelation with other areas of law as well as with digital technologies in research and teaching. In addition to comparative law and interdisciplinary research, participation in national and international research networks is expected. The professorship acquires third-party funding for national and international research projects. It contributes to the field of excellence Smart Regulation as well as to University and Faculty research core areas.   • Austrian or equivalent foreign higher education degree corresponding with the position (doctorate/PhD) in the field of law
  • Outstanding academic qualifications in research and teaching in the relevant discipline and for the profile of the professorship (commensurate with stage of academic career and interruptions in employment due to caring responsibilities)
  • Several years of experience as post-doc or in a similar position
  • Skills in attracting subject-specific project grants
  • Skills in higher education didactics including the use of digital media
  • Gender mainstreaming and diversity management skills
  • Good knowledge of German and English
  • Publications in national media and media abroad
  • Professional experience abroad during academic career (preferred)

Participation in the Faculty’s doctoral programmes, in particular the doctoral programme “European Private Law”, is expected.Additional InformationBenefitsThe minimum remuneration as stated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement is EUR 69060.60 gross per year or EUR 81314.80 gross per year after signing the Qualification Agreement.Eligibility criteriaPlanned dates of the applicant’s presentation: 30.06.2025Selection process40 hours per week; selection procedure in accordance with Section 99 (5) of the Universities Act (UG). Initially the successful candidate starts as an Assistant Professor with a qualification agreement for a fixed term tenure phase of six years. After successful completion of the qualification goals the position will be converted into a permanent Associate Professor position in accordance with the Salaried Employees Act (AngG). Expected starting date October 1st 2025The successful candidate will be highly motivated, aiming for academic excellence and integrity in research and teaching. He/she will have demonstrated ability to collaborate constructively in a responsible manner and inspire colleagues and students in an interdisciplinary, internationally oriented context.
