Expected start: November 2025.Tasks:

  • Supporting the scientific staff of the institute in operation, maintenance, and repair of the institute’s diverse research equipment, particularly ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems, which play a central role in various excellence projects at the institute
  • Assisting in the further conceptual and technical development of these systems, especially through involvement in procurement processes, as well as in the design and construction of specialized electronic devices for these systems
  • Operation, maintenance and development of the institute’s IT systems, especially maintenance of control and communication software for physical measuring instruments
  • Ensuring efficient and cost-effective operation of the equipment pool through long-term, comprehensive support from acting as single point of contact
  • Serving as the first point of contact for institute staff regarding issues with their IT equipment
  • Acting as the interface between institute staff and TU Campus IT
  • Providing technical support for experiments in the institute’s laboratory courses
  • Possible involvement in basic, applied, and contract research projects

Your profile:

  • Completion of a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or several years of professional experience in the development, repair, and maintenance of various electronic research devices
  • Completion of a Master’s degree in Computer Science or several years of experience in setting up, operating, and maintaining IT infrastructure (especially Linux and Windows servers, network infrastructure, Windows end-user devices)
  • Completion of a Master’s degree in Technical Chemistry or Technical Physics with a focus on working with large-scale research equipment (especially UHV systems), or several years of experience in setting up, operating, and maintaining such systems
  • Professional experience in the academic/research field and familiarity with its particular challenges is an advantage
  • Excellent German (C1) and English (B2) skills for communication with students and our international team
  • Interest in and enjoyment of working with students
  • Teamwork skills and problem-solving competence
  • Organization and planning/project management
  • Passing on information, willingness to take responsibility and initiative
  • Professionalism, self-reflection and willingness to develop
