As a driver of innovation, TU Wien fosters close collaboration with business and industry and contributes to the prosperity of society.At the Institute of Chemical Technologies and Analytics, in the Research Group for Electrochemical Energy Conversion TU Wien is offering a position as senior scientist (all genders) for 40 hours/week. Expected start: July 2025.Tasks:

  • Research activities in the field of solid state electrochemistry
  • Collaboration on research topics in the Cluster of Excellence “MECS”
  • Publication activities
  • Participation in scientific events/conferences
  • Active participation in teaching (practical courses, seminars, in particular VU ‘Fundamentals of electrical engineering (VT)’) and participation in examinations
  • Supervision of Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD theses in the field of electrochemical energy conversion
  • Collaboration in organisational and administrative tasks as well as evaluation measures
  • Strategic development of the research group’s experimental infrastructure, including the design of novel experiments
  • Independent conception and development of the necessary electronic components and interfaces for novel electrochemical measurement methods and setups
  • Development and implementation of automation solutions for thin film deposition processes and electrochemical measurement systems
  • Development and support of highly automated, computer-aided data acquisition systems in close cooperation with the IT department of the institute and of TU Wien
  • Responsibility for laboratory management, including the organisation, operation and sustainable securing of the experimental infrastructure
  • Strategic further development and support of the measurement equipment, including electronics design, data management and interface development

Your profile:

  • Completed doctorate in the field of technical chemistry, materials science, physics or a comparable specialisation
  • A high level of scientific expertise in a research field related to electrochemistry, documented by publications
  • Experience in the production of oxide and metallic thin films using pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and sputtering
  • Extensive knowledge and practical experience in electrochemical characterisation methods (both AC and DC methods)
  • Experience in the integration of hardware and software for complex measurement setups
  • Knowledge of electronic circuit design and interface development
  • Very good programming skills for controlling devices and analysing data (e.g. Python)
  • Experience in laboratory management and in the organisation of experimental procedures
  • Experience in project acquisition
  • Interest in teaching and supervising students
  • Strong teamwork skills, strong communication skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment
  • Independent and structured way of working as well as strong analytical and conceptual skills
  • Very good written and spoken German and English
