Senior/Principal Ecological Consultant (Ornithology)Location: Scotland, UKThe VacancyAre you an experienced Ecologist with a background in Ornithology, looking to take that next step in your career, or a new and exciting challenge?Do you want to be a part of a collaborative organisation that provides outstanding consultancy and contracting support through its professional, timely and cost-efficient services?Well then look no further…Here at RSK Biocensus part of RSK Group we are recruiting for someone with a strong passion for Ornithology to join our growing UK ecology team as our new Senior or Principal Consultant.You will have the opportunity to get involved with management and delivery of all elements of ornithological field surveys, assessment, tender and report writing and project management. You will also Co-ordinate and undertake a broad range of BBS, winter bird surveys, species specific surveys, offshore surveys and vantage point surveys.Key Responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Financial management of projects.
  • Producing a variety of tenders and reports.
  • Project management, report writing and delivery of projects.
  • Providing ornithological support on projects for the wider team.
  • Managing and mentoring junior members of the team.

Person Specification:You will be technically competent and able to undertake the full range of bird surveys, whilst having the ability to work independently and part of a wider team.Enthusiasm, energy and drive to develop skills and deliver projects to the highest standard, along with excellent report writing skills, including survey reports, EcIAs, HRAs and tenders would be key to being successful within n this role.Qualifications & Experience:

  • Has previous, relevant experience in a similar role, ideally working in commercial consultancy, although this is not a necessity.
  • Appropriate membership of CIEEM (dependent on grade, or to have eligibility if not currently held).
  • A full UK driving licence and use of own vehicle is required for this role.
