Based on a strong disciplinary core, the broad range of subjects at the University of Vienna opens up many opportunities for modern computer science, which is increasingly entering application areas at the interfaces to the natural sciences, economics, medicine, social sciences and humanities.Your workplace:As a Senior Lecturer, you will be working in the field of theoretical foundations of computer science. You will primarily design and lead introductory and in-depth courses on topics such as algorithms and data structures, fundamentals of intelligent systems, mathematical foundations of computer science, fundamentals of numerical computing and introduction to mathematical modelling. In addition, you will work on the design and implementation of an extension curriculum in Artificial Intelligence. You will further develop the courses you supervise in line with the current state of research and coordinate their content with the other courses in the curriculum. You will organise the courses according to modern didactic principles, taking into account the discipline-specific requirements of computer science. You are involved in defining the requirements for the necessary infrastructure and coordinate these with the relevant departments.The employment level of 40 hours/week includes an average teaching obligation of 14 semester hours per week of academic teaching.Your future tasks:You actively participate in scientific teaching, research & administration, which means:

• You will teach courses at Bachelor’s and Master’s level independently or together with other lecturers
• You will make an active contribution to the (further) development of course and examination formats
• We expect from you the ongoing reception of the current state of science as well as continuing didactic training. Research activities are welcome, but not mandatory.
• In addition, the assumption of administrative tasks, especially in the administration of teaching, is part of the job profile.

What we expect:We are looking for people who see university teaching as an interesting and challenging career field. Requirements for application are:

• Completed doctorate in the field of computer science/business informatics
• Broad basic education in computer science (e.g. Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent)
• Several years of independent teaching experience at a post-secondary educational institution
• Enthusiasm for the transfer of knowledge and for university teaching
• Excellent language skills in German and English (written and spoken) or willingness to quickly acquire excellent German skills if excellent English skills are available
• Practical (professional) experience in software development or software engineering
