Offer DescriptionThe Medical University of Vienna (MedUni Vienna) with more than 6.500 employees and about 8.500 students is one of the largest academic medical schools in the EU area. At the Department of General Surgery of the MedUni Vienna and the University Hospital Vienna a Full Professorship Position for Surgery with a focus on transplantation according to §98 University Act 2002 is available, starting October 1st, 2025. We offer permanent employment according to the Austrian Employees act. The Department of General Surgery is currently divided into three clinical divisions: (i) Division of Visceral Surgery, (ii) Division of Vascular Surgery, (iii) Division of Transplantation. • Graduation in medicine with a subject specific doctorate or an equivalent foreign university degree
• Qualification as a specialist for surgery or equivalent domestic and foreign authorization
• Profound clinical qualification in in the field of abdominal transplantation
• Willingness to establish a pediatric kidney and liver transplant program
• Outstanding scientific qualification in the field of abdominal transplantation
• Successful and continuous acquisition of competitive third-party funds
• Leadership and management experience, including gender and diversity competence, and with qualification to manage a hospital department of the highest level of care
• Experience in interdisciplinary cooperation in clinic and research
• Educational and didactic qualification (evaluation results regarding teaching activities)
• International work experience

Specific RequirementsExpected from the applicant:

• Interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research in terms of promoting the research clusters described in the University`s development plan and participation in the Research Platform for Transplantation and the Immunology Research Cluster
• Close cooperation with the two other divisions within the Department of General Surgery and the Departments of Internal Medicine III
• Close cooperation with clinic/division of the Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC), Comprehensive Center for Perioperative Medicine (CCPM),
• Comprehensive Center for Inflammation and Immunity (CCII), Comprehensive Center for Infection Medicine (CCIM) and Comprehensive Center for Pediatrics (CCP)
• Representation of the subject area in the medical curriculum aimed at integrative and practice oriented training
• Competence in employee leadership and motivation
• Continuation and optimization of the clinical services and procedures in cooperation with other disciplines and clinical departments as well as the management of the University Hospital Vienna
• Commitment to quality orientation and willingness to continuously enhance personal management skills
