Offer DescriptionScientific ProfileThe advertised position in the Department of Geoinformation at the Institute of Geodesy lies at the interface between geodesy, computer science and geography. Location and spatial reference, big data, data science and artificial intelligence play a significant role.We are looking for a person with proven experience and expertise in the field of geoinformation, geospatial data science and geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI). The future post holder should have a research focus in the field of Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI) and develop the field of geoinformation both professionally and technical-methodologically. He*She should also make a substantial contribution to the research priorities of TU Graz. To this, the interdisciplinary research topic of geoinformatics at the Graz Center for Machine Learning at TU Graz is to be continued and expanded. The links and synergies with the other geodesy departments (navigation, remote sensing and photogrammetry, satellite geodesy and engineering geodesy) should be further intensified, as should the connection to TU Graz Informatics and the NAWI cooperation with the Karl-Franzens University of Graz. National and international cooperation beyond the Department of Geodesy will also be intensified in the future.A willingness to establish and lead the Geoinformation working group at the Institute of Geodesy is required, as well as active participation in research projects of the Institute of Geodesy or the relevant departments of TU Graz, and acquisition and operational management of research projects. Furthermore, a distinctive scientific activity (publication performance and active participation in congresses and conferences) is expected.In teaching (in German and English), the subject of geoinformation is to be represented in its full breadth in the geodesy programs (Bachelor, Master, PhD) and in the NAWI Graz Master’s programs (including Geospatial Technologies and Space Sciences and Earth from Space). It is expected that new developments and technologies (GeoAI, Geospatial Data Analysis etc.) will be incorporated into teaching. In addition, service teaching is to be further expanded to help meet the high demand for graduates.The position will initially be filled as a University Assistant with a doctorate, 40 hours/week, probably from October 2025 at the Institute of Geodesy. Upon conclusion of a qualification agreement, the position will be filled as Assistant Professor, and upon fulfilment of the qualification agreement, the position will be converted to a permanent Associate Professor.We offer a position in the attractive environment of the Institute of Geodesy and TU Graz with varied tasks, flexible working hours, international training opportunities in a collegial and friendly working atmosphere.Employment Requirements

• Completed doctoral studies or equivalent studies in the field of geoinformation, geodesy or related fields
• Proven scientific and subject-specific achievements, which can be demonstrated through international, peer-reviewed publications, as well as active publication activity and presentations at international and national conferences and meetings. Networking within the geoinformation community would be beneficial
• Didactic skills for adequate implementation of teaching at Bachelor’s, Master’s and doctoral level
• Management qualification and leadership skills including gender and diversity aspects
• Very good written and spoken German and English. If you do not yet have any knowledge of German, you are expected to be willing to acquire it

• Outstanding scientific qualifications in research and teaching
• Visible involvement in the international research community
• Appropriate didactic and pedagogical skills for a professorship
• Experience in teaching at Bachelor’s, and Master’s level
• Experience in the acquisition and management of third-party funded projects
• Sufficient leadership experience and the ability to lead a research team or unit
• The ability to work in a team and willingness for cooperation within and outside the university
• Competences in Gender, Diversity and Inclusion
• Excellent language skills in German and English
