Grow here.PLANNING PRACTICE AT AECOMWe have an impressive portfolio of involvement in major infrastructure projects, including lead roles in the consenting and delivery of projects through various consenting regimes including DCOs. We are currently leading on planning applications for renewables and wider energy/electricity related infrastructure, transport, defence, water and much more.AECOM is a top ten UK planning consultancy by size, employing more than 70 Chartered or Licentiate Planners. As we are a national team, we are flexible in terms of location – this includes our offices in Basingstoke, Birmingham, Bristol, Chesterfield, Croydon, Leeds, London, Manchester with an option for hybrid working.Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Leading and assisting in the successful delivery of major development applications and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams across various project types.
  • Providing planning advice to colleagues and clients on planning consent requirements and the application of permitted development rights.
  • Leading on the production of planning feasibility reports and consent strategies.
  • Writing Planning Statements and Design and Access Statements for development applications.
  • Leading, submitting and managing planning applications including leading liaison and negotiation with local planning authorities and other key stakeholders.
  • Working closely with the Environmental Impact Assessment team.
  • Contributing to business development in one or more market sectors, including sector strategy, and identifying opportunities and developing client relationships.
  • Leading and contributing to the preparation of successful commercial tenders.
  • Project management and implementing quality and health and safety principles.
  • Participating in internal and external meetings.

  • Sound knowledge of English planning policy and legislation
  • Demonstrable and relevant experience of leading planning applications, including infrastructure development
  • Client focus, with good interpersonal skills and collaborative working approach
  • High level of commitment to quality
  • Commercial awareness and experience of project / budget management
  • Experience of contributing to bids or planning services procurement
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and under pressure
  • Competence in Microsoft Office
