More than 80m people move through that city and this opportunity is to ensure the right strategy and tactics are in place to keep them safe from fire. This is a 12-month Secondment to lead the development of coherent, commercial and well-engineered asset strategies, standards and plans that best meet business and asset management objectives by optimising cost, performance and risk.The role is responsible for Fire risk related assets and systems across the airport and for leading cross functional communities to drive increased shareholder value from the assets for which they are accountable.Responsibilities:

  • Accountability for creating Asset System Strategies and Asset Plans to support achievement of the long-term business plan and airport master plan, and provide support to develop strategic options within the plans.
  • Accountability for producing long term (20-30 year) asset plans for H8 and subsequent regulatory periods, and ensuring plans are robustly supported for submission and scrutiny by the Regulator.
  • Providing Professional Engineering expertise and acting as Subject Matter Expert and Informed Buyer, including the use of specialist consultants.
  • Ensuring the business is aware of the likelihood and size of risks posed to the business by each asset system, working with operational and other teams to ensure that they have appropriate plans in place to manage those risks.
  • Providing assurance that Development and Engineering teams operate in accordance with asset system strategies, plans and standards, reviewing requests to deviate from and also improve our standards in a way that adds value to Heathrow.
  • Reviewing the effectiveness of defined maintenance, renewal and other asset interventions against requirements of the asset system strategies and asset plans for each system, taking corrective actions to improve effectiveness where required.
  • Ensuring technical requirements for new equipment and systems are adequately specified and reflected in Asset Standards and supply chain category strategies, and are supported by life cycle analysis.
  • Working with others to ensure that the performance and physical condition of assets is in accordance with our Asset Management Objectives. Develop corrective investment and other interventions to manage the risk appropriately.

Qualifications:

  • Chartered engineer or demonstrable equivalent experience. Asset management qualification and experience. Strong understanding of the safety and sustainability impacts of respective systems. Strong understanding of related Regulatory and Legislative frameworks.
  • Extensive experience in development of asset strategies and plans in similar organisations eg energy, rail, infrastructure, and applying life cycle, condition and reliability models to asset systems. Proven record of delivering asset plans.
  • Commercial and critical thinker, with ability to influence across all levels of multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Technically and commercially focussed, with the ability to provide or procure expertise and improve quality and standards.
  • Excellent knowledge of related industry, regulatory frameworks and legislation. Thorough understanding of asset management principles.
