The Medical University of Vienna has an exciting job opportunity for a postdoctoral fellow in Digital Science, Telemedicine and ML/AI starting in the summer of 2025 with guaranteed funding for 3 years and the opportunity of an unlimited contract afterwards.Salary: The gross salary for 40 hours per week is currently Euro 4.932,– (14x per year) and can possibly be increased on the basis of the collective agreement regulations through the crediting of job-specific previous experience and other remuneration components associated with the special features of the job.About the position:The successful candidate will work within the Division of General Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine in the Department of Anaesthesia, Intensive Care Medicine and Pain Medicine at the Medical University of Vienna. The Division is establishing a new network of data scientists in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine under the supervision of Prof. SCHALLER, who is also the Head of the Clinical Division. It has a functioning digital science working group led by Prof. KIMBERGER, a professor of perioperative information management, and is set to welcome another assistant professor who will also be affiliated with the new Integrated Centre of Artficial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML).Required qualifications:
- Outstanding candidates with PhD in statistics, data science or a related field, e.g. mathematics, epidemiology, medicine, etc.
- Outstanding programming skills in R and Python
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (knowledge of German is not required)
- Willingness in supporting the formation of a translational research group focused on digital science, telemedicine, and machine learning/AI within anaesthesia and intensive care medicine
- The willingness to obtain third-party funds is expected
