Offer DescriptionYour ResponsibilitiesThe Institute of Railway Infrastructure Design was founded in 2021 and deals with both the basic physical understanding of the interaction of wheel-rail forces and their load transfer as well as detailed investigations of complex systems (switches, crossings, etc.). This knowledge is used to design the superstructure in order to enable the increasing loads of the future (more traffic on the railway) and to design it more resistant and at the same time less maintenance-intensive. To this end, we conduct research with the help of measurements in the operating track and in the laboratory as well as simulations. In our young, motivated team, we are looking for someone to help set up the laboratory that is currently being constructed, to manage it and to contribute their own ideas, and to jointly pursue the goal of developing TU Graz into the ‘hot spot’ of railway research in Europe.

  • Implementation, monitoring and development of laboratory tests and equipment
  • Project acquisition
  • Evaluation of test results and measurements
  • Preparation of reports, documentation and publications
  • Ensuring laboratory operation (maintenance)
  • Management and organization of the laboratory
  • Support with measurements on the track
  • Teaching in railway engineering

Your Profile

  • Experience in the management of a test center / laboratory
  • Knowledge of the railroad track
  • Practical experience in the field of measurement and control technology for servo-hydraulic test benches including sensor technology, data acquisition, control and calibration concepts
  • IT Knowledge
  • Willingness to undertake further training, particularly to attend courses offered by TU Graz
  • Willingness to contribute to the development of research and teaching at the Institute, experience and knowledge of methods in the research field, administration, realisation and supervision of research projects

Admission Requirements

  • Relevant PhD (Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering) or equvalent
  • Laboratory experience
  • Sufficient professional experience in the areas of measurement technology or controlengineering
  • Very good German & English language skills (min. C1)

We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 69,060.59 for a fulltime position.
