As a subject area expert, the successful candidate, provides proactive leadership and guidance to strengthen compliance with FX and Brokerage regulations, internal Resiliency programs, and Operational Risk. This individual provides operational strategies to minimize risk and assure compliance with relevant legislation and obligations. In addition, they will provide oversight of an effective framework of resiliency including adherence to business continuity, risk self-assessment, vendor and application standards.Uses specific knowledge of a discipline to achieve goals through own work. Has specific knowledge or expertise typically gained through formal education or equivalent experience. Uses expertise to provide guidance to others as a project manager or consultant. Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own job discipline or field. Leads others to solve complex problems. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. May lead functional teams or projects.The key responsibilities of the role include:

• Fosters and promotes Northern’s commitment to a strong risk management culture by developing a control mindset within the business.
• Able to serve as a key subject matter expert
• Leads the development of controls and measures to identify operational risk and/or control problems at an early stage and ensures that immediate measures are taken to maintain quality and efficiency standards.
• Ensures that current policies and procedures are in place (and are being followed) for functions and are in compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
• Ensures robust preventative and detective controls are in place, well designed and operating effectively for business functions and drive recommendations to strengthen control.
• Monitors and maintains Business Continuity and RCSA plans driving enhancements, with no deviation from agreed procedures and processes
• Maintains regular contact with peers internal and external to firm, including regulators and professional organization.
• Ensures appropriate oversight / governance of arrangements is in place. Facilitating governance forums as required.
• Acts in capacity of facilitator for all audits and regulatory examinations where applicable.
• Builds and maintains relationships with different stakeholders including Control, Risk, Compliance and Audit,
• Monitors compliance with scheme rules & regulations and the implementation of solutions for improvement;
• Ensures amended and new scheme rules & regulations are implemented in our processes and procedures in a timely manner
• Monitors and documents key risks, errors/near misses and root cause analyses for the Practice. Undertakes analysis and drives recommendation for errors/near misses for the Practice.
• Ensures practice controls meet regulatory and internal Risk & Control requirements
• Completes any operational requirements specific to assurance of payment scheme rules
• Ensures all open issues are resolved and closed in a timely manner.

Skills/ Qualifications:

• Operations/audit/control/risk partner with knowledge of the relevant business practice including its strategic goals, associated products and supporting operational functions.
• Excellent attention to detail and organization skills. Ability to managing multiple priorities.
• Ability to systematically assess & challenge existing processes.
• Knowledge of risk management techniques and proven ability to identify and asses risk in business processes, migration activity and new products.
• Approachable and able to promote teamwork through creative solutions
• Strong communication both written and oral with the ability to synthesize information into concise and structured output
• Negotiation and analytical skills are necessary to consult with partners/clients throughout the organization as well as regulators and auditors.
• Effective project management skills are essential to help drive various initiatives.
• Ability to sell the value added benefit of the oversight function.
• Self-starter with the ability to function independently in a fast-paced, dynamic and demanding environment.
• Knowledge of FX and Brokerage products and associated regulatory landscape and industry best practices
• Broad Knowledge of CLM and Client Onboarding Lifecy would be advantageous
• Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience
• May lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements
