Job description

We’re looking for an Estimator with a sharp eye for detail and a passion for civil engineering to join a forward-thinking team focused on delivering high-quality infrastructure projects. You’ll play a vital role in the early stages of project delivery, crunching the numbers, shaping strategies, and helping them secure the right work at the right price.What You’ll Be Doing:
Tender & Estimating
·Prepare accurate quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications – both manually and using digital tools.
·Create Bills of Quantities in line with standard Methods of Measurement.
·Provide pricing support and build up rates using internal cost data, plant/labour/materials analysis, and supplier input.
·Collaborate with the Engineering team on design & build elements, including temporary works.
·Ensure continuity and accuracy in the estimating process across all tenders.
Collaboration & Support
·Work closely with Procurement to gather subcontractor quotes and material prices.
·Support the Bid Team in compiling well-structured, persuasive tender submissions.
·Take ownership of your submissions – issuing comprehensive handover packs upon contract award.
Continuous Improvement
·Maintain an internal library of agreed rates and pricing data for future tenders.
·Provide support and insight into bid win strategies based on commercial insight.
·Contribute to the ongoing refinement of estimating tools and processes.What Success Looks Like:
·Securing a steady stream of work in line with the company’s commercial goals.
·Producing clear, consistent and competitive estimates using sound assumptions.
·Supporting strong bid handovers and facilitating smooth project mobilisation.You’ll Work Closely With:
·Commercial and Procurement Teams
·Operational Leaders and Bid Coordinators
·Design and Temporary Works EngineersWhat You’ll Need to Bring:
Essentials:
·Background in civil engineering or quantity surveying (or strong training in either).
·Solid understanding of construction methods and buildability.
·Strong numeracy skills and commercial awareness.
·Proficient in Microsoft Excel and digital estimating tools.
·Able to communicate clearly and work collaboratively across departments.
·Comfortable managing your own time and delivering under pressure.
Desirable:
·Progress towards (or possession of) Incorporated Engineer or Quantity Surveyor status.
·Working knowledge of current HSE practices and site safety requirements.Why Join?
