Mentorship for this position will be provided by both university professors and dedicated experts at Infineon, ensuring that you receive comprehensive support and guidance throughout your doctoral thesis. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with our partners at TU Chemnitz and Fraunhofer-Institut für Elektonische Nanosysteme (ENAS), who will provide world-class expertise in thermomechanical simulation and characterization of QPUs at cryogenic temperatures, and support with leading-edge interconnect capabilities. Your mission will be to implement ion shuttling across multi-chip ionQPUs, based on reliable industrial assembly- and interconnect methods. Your work will be instrumental in advancing the technology development of scalable ionQPUs, ultimately contributing to the realization of useful applications with significant economic impact.In your new job you will:
- Develop multi-chip ionQPUs with chip-to-chip ion shuttling capabilities
- Develop a reliable assembly-process together with experts at Infineon, TU Chemnitz and Fraunhofer ENAS
- Fabricate ionQPUs by defining a fabrication route, find solutions to process restrictions and implement measures to improve fabrication yield
- Deploy your ionQPUs at the Infineon quantum lab and demonstrate chip-to-chip shuttling
- Collaborate with TU Chemnitz and Fraunhofer ENAS on the investigation of the ionQPUs’ thermomechanical properties
- Support the quality and reliability of Infineon ion traps by defining control concepts for inline process control, device screening and component verification

- have a master’s degree in physics, quantum engineering or similar
- have gained first experience in semiconductor manufacturing or ion trap fabrication
- are fluent in English and German
