Vienna, AustriaThe Rendeiro lab at CeMM, the Research Center for Molecular Medicine of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna, is recruiting a highly motivated data scientist/software engineer to join our international team studying human aging and pathology using computational and molecular methods.Our group develops computational methods for the analysis of large-scale biological datasets, including spatial transcriptomics, highly multiplexed imaging, and histopathology. We integrate these data with clinical and molecular information to investigate the organization of cells at the micro-anatomical level and how this changes with age and disease. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and deployment of robust, scalable software solutions that drive our research forward.Your Profile

  • PhD and training in data science, computer science, computational biology, or a related field;
  • Solid programming and data science skills, including familiarity with Linux, Python programming, version control, continuous integration/deployment, database management;
  • Prior experience with biological data, image analysis, and/or sequencing data is a plus;
  • Friendly, collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in an international environment;
  • Team player with strong communication skills and a proactive attitude;
  • Written and oral communication skills in English (German language skills are not required).

  • Development and maintenance of software for biological data analysis;
  • Deployment of software and models at scale on internal HPC clusters and cloud-based environments;
  • Life cycle management of large biological datasets;
  • Ingestion and quality control of biological data using established pipelines;
  • Statistical analysis and data exploration to generate biological insights;
  • Troubleshooting of technical problems in software and workflows;
  • Supporting and interacting with researchers with diverse scientific backgrounds;
  • Contributing to the lab’s research projects, publications, and open-source software efforts.
