MED208925The University of Nottingham is seeking to appoint a Clinical Associate Professor in Breast Surgery with clinical duties as Honorary Consultant at our partner NHS Foundation Trust, the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton.This post is offered to enhance our world-leading research and to provide exceptional clinical care in Breast Surgery. You will be a clinical academic with a track-record in research aligned to Breast Surgery. You will contribute to the strategic research goals of the School of Medicine by developing and maintaining an internationally excellent research programme that will have a demonstrable impact on the care and wellbeing of patients. The post provides an excellent opportunity to combine clinical work, research and teaching.The major purposes of this role are to:
- develop and maintain an internationally excellent research programme aligned to the research strategies of the School of Medicine, attracting external funding to strategically grow breast cancer research
- deliver high quality teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students and contribute to the development of undergraduate and postgraduate education
- contribute to the collegiate needs of the School of Medicine, Faculty and University
- provide clinical service in Breast Surgery in the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust working within an Honorary Consultant Contract.
The role is a clinical academic position with a 50:50 split between University and NHS duties. You will have a primary research commitment in conjunction with teaching and clinical service responsibilities.The post is offered full time (40 hours per week) or less than full time (minimum 0.8 FTE). Your academic duties will be based within the Academic Unit of Translational Medical Sciences in the University of Nottingham’s School of Medicine which works across the Nottingham and Derby Campuses of the School of Medicine. Your clinical duties will be based in the Department of Breast Surgery, University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust which delivers services across two main sites – the Royal Derby Hospital and Queen’s Hospital, Burton.You will already have been awarded a Higher Research Degree i.e. PhD or MD/DM.
