The Treaty provides for a global verification regime, including a network of 337 facilities worldwide, a communications system, an international data centre and on-site inspections to monitor compliance.Organizational SettingThis position is located in the Training and Outreach Unit of the Capacity Building and Training Section, International Data Centre Division (IDC).Reporting LinesUnder the supervision of the Chief, Capacity Building and Training Section, to:Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance to States Signatories’ authorized users of the International Monitoring System (IMS) data and International Data Centre (IDC) products, including managing access, troubleshooting issues, and resolving user inquiries related to data access and system performance;
  • Maintain communication with authorized users regarding the distribution and quality of IMS data, as well as the output of data processing from the IDC Division;
  • Assist in the testing, installation, and configuration of standard software packages for National Data Centres (NDCs) to ensure smooth integration and functionality;
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of training programmes for scientists, engineers, and technicians involved in the operation and maintenance of the IMS. This includes developing training materials, methodologies, and e-learning modules to improve technical proficiency;
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Education

  • University degree in geophysical, nuclear sciences, or a related field.

Work Experience and Qualifications

  • Training in the field of computer technology and instructional design is required;
  • At least two (2) years of relevant working experience with relational databases and SQL;
  • Good knowledge of UNIX operating systems is an advantage;
  • Knowledge of analysis in one of the CTBT monitoring technologies is an advantage.

Languages

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential;
  • Knowledge of other official CTBTO languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is desirable.
