Expected start: July 2025.The candidate and TU Wien can agree upon a tenure evaluation, which when positive, opens the possibility to change the position to Associate Professor with an unlimited contract.The tenure-track position is affiliated to the Institute of Materials Chemistry, Research Unit Molecular Materials Chemistry. Duties include research and teaching in the field of CO2 conversion and (photo)electrochemistry. The focus of research should be on the development of new type of organic-inorganic hybrid materials, their synthesis and implementation in CO2 conversion and related sustainable energy applications. The applicant’s scientific profile should complement on-going research activities in the context of the recently established “Materials for Energy Conversion and Storage” cluster of excellence (CoE).Tasks:Research:

• Development of industrially scalable systems for sustainable energy applications
• Design and development of organic-inorganic hybrid materials
• Investigation of these hybrid materials as photoelectrocatalysts in sustainable energy applications such CO2 conversion to solar fuels
• Elucidation of underlying mechanisms in catalysis using in-situ and operando sectroscopies and spectroelectrochemitry
• Dissemination of research results; Organization of scientific conferences/symposiums and outreach activities (third mission)

Administration:

• Participation in university self-administration

Teaching:

• The tenure-track position should cover the areas of inorganic chemistry and materials chemistry both through lectures and laboratory exercises. Independent organization and implementation of courses within the bachelor’s curriculum in Technical Chemistry and within the framework of the relevant master’s programs (e.g. “Technical Chemistry”, “Chemistry and Technology of Materials”, “Green Chemistry”) are expected. It is emphasized that currently the teaching in the Bachelor curriculum is in German language requiring appropriate language skills

Your profile:

• University Master and Doctoral degree or equivalent in Chemistry or related disciplines
• Experience in postdoctoral research, ideally within an international environment
• Proficiency in German (C1) and English (B2)
• Expertise in synthesis and characterization of organic, inorganic and hybrid semiconductors
• Expertise in (photo)electrocatalytic CO2 capture and conversion as well as photovoltaics
• Holistic research approach from mechanistic studies to prototype design
• Expertise with (photo)electrochemistry and complementary in-situ and operando techniques (diffraction, spectroscopy, spectroelectrochemistry)
• Outstanding achievements in research, excellent publication activity, international reputation (lecture and presentation practice, national and international research co-operations)
• Experience in the conception and management of research projects, preferentially with industrial partners
• Proven teaching experience in academic teaching in inorganic chemistry and materials chemistry in lectures and laboratory exercises, organization and leading of courses (e.g. lectures, laboratory exercises), proven experience in (co-)supervision of academic theses
• Willingness to cooperate with other working groups of TU Wien in research and teaching as well as to acquire third-party funding
• Willingness to take on management tasks within the organizational structure, organizational and team skills, and excellent communication skills
• Ideally experience in the promotion of young scientists
