Offer DescriptionThe is seeking an assistant professor in Economics in accordance with the Austrian Universities Act (Universitätsgesetz), Austrian Salaried Employees Act (Angestelltengesetz) and § 27 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Employees (Kollektivvertrag der Universitäten). After fulfilling the requirements laid out in the qualification agreement, they receive a tenured contract as associate professor.The Paris Lodron University Salzburg (PLUS) is a thriving and inspiring university in Austria which stands for outstanding achievements in research and teaching in the areas of (digital) humanities, life sciences, sustainability of (social) processes and the link between art & science.   • “habilitation” in Economics within a contractually fixed period of time (maximum of 4 years) or other equivalent qualification(s);
  • independent research and teaching;
  • academic support in research and teaching as well as participation in administrative tasks in the field of Economics;
  • four semester hours of teaching per week (eight hours per week once tenure is granted).

  • an earned doctorate/PhD degree in Economics or equivalent areas;
  • publication of the thesis, at least in parts;
  • at least one year of professional academic experience outside the Paris Lodron University Salzburg;
  • very good German and English skills.

Additional requirements:

  • theoretically grounded empirical research in Behavioural Economics and its applications;
  • experience in the application of cutting-edge econometric methods, ideally incorporating techniques from machine learning;
  • research in these areas may also be characterised by relevance to economic policy, corporate collaborations, or interdisciplinarity; this should be demonstrated through publications in reputable (economics) journals;
  • experience in acquiring competitive grants;
  • excellent teaching in the areas of the job posting.
