We pour care into our craft, our authors and each other – because there’s no limit to a good book.The roleAs Vintage’s Artworker, your role will be varied – in a supportive capacity, we’re looking for someone to be responsible for the art working of assigned book jackets across all imprints within the division.Key responsibilities:

• First point of technical support, trouble shooting and problem-solving within the department.
• Picking up projects at any stage in the process and taking over to finalise as required.
• Multitasking over many microprojects at any one time.
• Reformatting pre-existing designs.
• Compositing images within photoshop.
• Typesetting cover copy.
• Taking in text corrections from editorial.
• Colour management within print production.
• Maintaining awareness of the critical path and other schedules; pushing for material when necessary and planning and managing work to meet schedules.

What you’ll bringEssential criteria:

• Proven graphic design experience (this could be from the publishing industry, or beyond)
• Thorough design technical knowledge (Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge, etc…)
• Knowledge of the printing process

Preferred criteria:

• Creative thinking and problem solving
• A demonstrable interest in the design of Vintage’s covers
• Excellent communication and effective influencing skills
• Ability to manage your own workload and prioritise effectively, working to tight deadlines and juggling multiple projects at once
• Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
