Job Category: TaxJob Description:This is a hands-on role suited to a tax professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys both compliance and project-based work. The role will involve working closely with Finance, HR, Legal, and other internal teams as well as liaising with external advisers and HMRC as needed. The ideal candidate will be competent with manipulating large amounts of data and juggling several tasks in each time frame.Responsibilities:Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Coordinate the preparation of the UK corporate tax returns (including Lloyd’s Syndicate) with external advisers, reviewing the returns for accuracy and consistency with internal records
- Prepare the annual statutory tax disclosures for inclusion in the UK financial statements and prepare tax account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy of tax balances in the accounting general ledger
- Assist with quarterly instalment tax payments for all UK entities including Lloyd’s syndicate entities
- Manage the VAT compliance, including preparation and submission of VAT returns on outsourced ARKK platform, review of partial exemption calculations and dealing with related queries
- Oversee the Insurance Premium Tax (IPT) filings and related compliance obligations on a monthly and quarterly basis
- Prepare the PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA) annual returns
- Support the annual Senior Accounting Officer documentation and certificate process
- Support the annual Country-by-Country reporting requirements
- Assist with information required for several employment related issues such as short-term business visitors, PIIDs
Advisory & Business Support
- Assist with providing advice on UK tax implications of Group business initiatives and operational changes, including cross-border reinsurance arrangements.
- Assist with monitoring and interpreting changes in UK tax legislation, assess impact on the business and assist in the implementation of required changes.
- Assist in responding to HMRC enquiries and managing tax audits or reviews.
Process & Risk Management
- Maintain and enhance tax compliance controls and documentation in line with the business’ risk management framework.
- Assist with ongoing maintenance and develop process improvements and controls along with automation of tax compliance tasks.
- Support internal and external audit requirements related to taxation.
Ad Hoc Duties
- Provide support on tax projects (e.g. tax planning, system upgrades, regulatory developments such as BEPS (define BEPS)/Pillar 2).
- Assist with group tax reporting for IFRS/statutory accounts and group consolidated reporting.
- Assist the UK Tax Lead in the preparation, implementation, update and maintenance of all tax policies and procedure documentation. Supporting the UK Tax Lead with quantitative and narrative reporting to the Board, SCOR and HMRC as required
- Always promote the SCOR brand and values, both internally and externally
Qualifications:Required experience & competencies
- A couple of years of experience working in a finance department for a medium to large organisation preferably the Reinsurance/Insurance sector
- Strong UK tax technical knowledge, particularly in corporate tax and VAT; exposure to IPT and employment taxes is highly desirable.
- Experience in the Lloyd’s of London market is an advantage.
- Confident in working with finance systems (e.g. SAP, Microsoft office) and tax software (Alphatax).
- In conjunction with the UK Tax Lead, ensure tax compliance with HMRC regulations
- Well organised, efficient, and autonomous with strong organisational skills and capacity to deliver on time
- Ability to plan your day and prioritise workload with a proactive “can do” attitude
- Strong technical and analytic skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
Required Education
- Appropriate professional qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CTA) or equivalence
