We’re a technology company that leads with our humanity—driving our business priorities alongside meaningful social, community, and societal impact.How You Will Contribute:As a firmware design engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing the low-level software required to control the DSP assisted coherent optical modem. That includes developing all the tools and interfaces required to support the integration, test, and verification of the product. As part of a wider development team, you will interact and collaborate with many designers from different teams to provide the optimum solutions that improve the product performance and quality. The firmware designer is exposed to a wide range of cutting-edge electronic, optical and RF technologies in a world-class R&D lab environment.
- You will define, implement and support SoC FW architectures with complex analog/digital IP blocks from early concept phase to mass production.
- You will develop, enhance and debug new and existing real-time firmware in C
- You will support hands-on hardware bringup, system debugging, functional validation and code optimization in a sophisticated electro-/optical RF laboratory.
- You will collaborate with chip-, module- and system developers to find optimal solutions
- You will provide calibration, test and debug tools improving the product quality.
- You will implement continuous code improvements, best practices and innovative solutions within the team, and lager organization.
The Must Haves:
- 5+ years of industry experience is a plus, we’re open to review if less than that
- Master degree or PhD in electrical engineering, computer science or related subject
- Experience with real-time software development on bare-metal or embedded operating system.
- Experience in C programming, Python and Matlab for the purposes of product code development, simulation, test automation, and data analysis.
- Worked with various hardware interfaces like JTAG, SPI, I2C, UART, DDR, PCIe …
Assets:
- Knowledge of DSP algorithms and optical fibre communication systems, higher order modulation formats is a plus
- Hardware exposure and RF laboratory environment experience.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills.
- Self-motivated, ability to work multidisciplinaryly multi-site team
- Own assignments with full accountability, remain engaged, be proactive and positive while solving very challenging problems.
- Excellent language skills in English and basic skills in German.
