Offer DescriptionScientific ProfileA highly qualified and scientifically distinguished individual is sought to represent the field of biochemistry in research and teaching with commitment.What is expected:

  • extensive research knowledge in the area of protein biochemistry and interdisciplinary cooperation in the fields of structural biology, biocatalysis, and biotechnology.
  • The focus should be on fundamental research, with potential applications seen as positive for internal networking.
  • The contribution of complementary expertise to existing groups at the institute and in Graz is considered a central point.
  • In the field of protein biochemistry, enzymology and functional protein complexes are of particular interest. Examples of this are the areas of biosynthetic pathways of natural products or protein-protein interaction studies.
  • Other areas of modern protein biochemistry are also of interest.
  • Future-oriented methodological approaches, such as functional medium- to high-throughput screenings, are advantageous.

Focus areas:

  • Fundamental research in protein biochemistry
  • Quantitative biochemical studies
  • Modern methodological approaches of functional protein characterisation

Collaboration:

  • Joint development of research priorities and doctoral training programs
  • Cooperation with existing research groups at the institute and at the scientific location Graz, especially within the framework of the university networks NAWI Graz, BioTechMed, the Integrative Structural Biology Initiative Graz, or consortium projects in the field of biocatalysis

Employment Requirements

  • A PhD-level university education in a discipline relevant for the position.
  • Excellent scientific performance in research and teaching (proven as far as possible by venia docendi or equivalent scientific efficiency).
  • Didactic skills for adequate implementation of teaching at Bachelor’s, Master’s and doctoral level (proven by habilitation or similar powers).
  • Management and leadership abililties (strategy, personnel and process development).
