As a driver of innovation, TU Wien fosters close collaboration with business and industry and contributes to the prosperity of society.Scies4Free is an FWF-funded doctoral program offered jointly by TU Wien and the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt (FHWN). Five innovative projects deal with the detection of tiny signals, applied at the search for dark matter and quantum sensor technology. Together we want to develop technologies and instruments to enable the measurement of individual light or elementary particles. Scies4Free combines the expertise at TU Wien and FH Wiener Neustadt to offer you an educational program in which you can combine basic research with practical applications.Of the total of 5 project positions, one is still to be filled in the field of ‘’Real time reduction for high-speed detectors’ at TU Wien.

The expected possible start of a project is in November 2024.Tasks:
- Scientific collaborative work in experimental basic research
- Collaboration with colleagues within the Doctoral School and related working groups
- Deepening scientific knowledge through courses and workshops within the Doctoral School, the TU Wien and the FH Wiener Neustadt
- Writing a dissertation and publications, as well as presenting the results
- Collaboration in the self-organization of the Doctoral School
- Additional training in non-research-oriented
Your profile:
- Master Studies in Physics or a related field with basic knowledge in Physics
- Motivation for independent scientific work
- Explicit interest in the offered projects
- Willingness to work in an international and interdisciplinary team
- Written and spoken English language skills
- Ideally previous scientific work relevant to the selected topics
- Open, independent and solution-oriented way of working and thinking

After the pre-selection, the selected candidates will be invited to give a short presentation on their diploma or master’s project.
