Offer DescriptionOne vacant position for a full-time Senior Scientist (m/w/d) at the Chair of Functional Materials and Materials Systems at the Department Materials Science. Start from the beginning of January 2025 on a permanent basis. Salary Group B1 according to the Uni-KV, monthly minimum salary excl. Szlg.: € 4.752,30 for 40 hours per week (14 x per year).Tasks: Application, implementation and supervision of research projects in the field of destructive materials testing with scale-bridging in-situ and in-operando methods as well as failure analysis; synthesis and operation of the available materials testing facilities; scientific research and supervision of scientific theses in the field of macroscopic materials testing under extreme conditions; independent teaching in the field of materials testing and failure analysis; support in university administration.Requirements: Doctorate (PhD) in the field of Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent in the sense of the desired qualification; experience in the field of macroscopic materials testing; experience in project application and/or management; competence and willingness to co-supervise bachelor, master and doctorate theses; publications in relevant international scientific journals; experience in teaching; fluent in German and English in word and writing.Desirable experience in the following areas:
Experience with destructive materials testing methods (static and quasi-static, hardness and fatigue testing).
Experience with in-situ and in-operando testing methods under extreme conditions (e.g. corrosive and aggressive environments, thermal loads, electrochemical methods for hydrogen charging).
Experience with modern methods for materials characterization (e.g. electron microscopy, focused ion beam methods, atom probe tomography, X-ray diffraction, synchrotron methods, atom probe tomography, X-ray diffraction, nanoindentation, micromechanical methods).
Experience with cooperative research projects with industry.
Experience in (co)-supervision of scientific theses (bachelor, master and PhD theses).
Loyalty, reliability, ability to work in a team, effective communication skills, self-organized and target-oriented way of working.Reference ID: 2410WPA
